The LIght Detection And Ranging (LIDAR) technology is used at the Aerological Station of Payerne to measure continuously vertical profiles of humidity, temperature and aerosols. LIDAR is one of the few technologies that is able to resolve the extremely high temporal and vertical variability of water vapor, which is the most important greenhouse gas in the atmosphere.
